Blake Eichenseer is an award-winning Director of Photography and Photographer with two decades of experience crafting narrative, commercial, and documentary content. His work has been showcased worldwide in theaters, museums, and major cultural institutions, including the World Chess Hall of Fame, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the Smithsonian.

 

Blake’s visual journey began at age 12 when he picked up his first video camera and instantly fell in love with the medium. Shortly after he was given his first film stills camera, a hand-me-down Contax 35mm SLR with a classic Zeiss 50mm prime lens that sparked a lifelong obsession with photography. Honing his craft with that camera he earned multiple scholarships, leading to a degree from the Art Institute of Philadelphia and advanced studies at the Maine Media Workshops.

 

He built his career from the ground up rising through the ranks of the grip and electric department. He saw early success as a gaffer and lighting designer on major commercial campaigns and theatrically released indie films, a background that heavily informs his technical mastery and artistic vision today as a Cinematographer.

 

To date Blake has lensed work for over 70 Fortune 500 companies, and filmed commercial, documentary and narrative work across four continents. He has worked in challenging environments ranging from Atlantic offshore oil rigs and the secluded rainforests of Equatorial Guinea to major international hubs like London, Tokyo, and New Delhi.

 

When he’s not behind the lens, Blake can be found reading science fiction, painting, hiking, snowboarding, cooking, or spending time with his family, consisting of his partner of over 20 years, Layla, and their adopted niece, Rosalyn.
